Ernest Choy, MB BCh, MD, FRCP

Ernest Choy, MB BCh, MD, FRCP, is the head of Rheumatology and Translational Research at the Institute of Infection and Immunity. He is also the Director of the CREATE Centre at the Cardiff University School of Medicine in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. He is also an honorary consultant rheumatologist at the University Hospital of Wales and Clinical Lead of the Welsh Arthritis Research Network. Previously, he was the Reader and Director of the King’s Musculoskeletal Clinical Trials Unit in the Department of Rheumatology at King’s College in London, and from 2003 to 2008, he was the Director of Research and Development at King’s College Hospital also in London.

Dr Choy has served as an expert advisor to the National Institute for Clinical Excellence in the United Kingdom and has published widely on treatments for patients with rheumatic diseases in major medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine. He is a frequent lecturer at national and international congresses, and his research interests include the treatment of patients with rheumatic diseases with a focus on the efficacy of new treatment strategies.
